About the Program

The Texas Homeowner Assistance program offers financial aid to qualified Texas homeowners struggling with mortgage, utility payments, and related expenses caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The program provides grants to cover past due and up to three months of future mortgage payments, property taxes, insurance, homeowner/condo association fees, and utility payments, including electricity, natural gas, propane, water, and wastewater.

We’ve partnered with housing counseling and legal aid organizations across the state to provide homeowners FREE and CONFIDENTIAL in-person and virtual assistance. Homeowners must meet program requirements to receive free help. Call to confirm hours of operation, appointments, and what to bring before visiting.

Housing counselors approved by Housing and Urban Development (HUD) can help homeowners with:

  • Default and foreclosure education
  • Loss mitigation
  • Budgeting and credit education
  • Restructuring debt
Legal Services

Legal services can help with:

  • Preventing foreclosure
  • Mediation between service, lender and homeowner
  • Credit correction and protection
  • Assistance to enable households to receive clear title to their properties
  • Determination of a disability in order to obtain a reasonable accommodation or modification
